Let’s Start With the When-
Your little one will be ready to move to one nap around 15-18 months. Sometimes baby’s will have a regression around 12 months, however, this is a regression stay consistent and it will pass.
What are the Signs –
There are a few signs you may see when it is time to drop to one nap. You may see all of them or just one. Here they are-
- Refusing one or both naps.
- Shortened lunch nap and can’t resettle.
- Not tired at bedtime.
- Waking overnight for an extended period.
How to Drop the Nap-
The morning nap is the one you will drop, keeping the lunch nap. We want to keep the lunch nap as close to 12pm as possible, ideally they will sleep for 2-2.5 hours. If the lunch nap is short have an early bedtime.
Dropping the nap can have a positive effect on night sleep if done at the right time.
